People have learned ways of shortening words so that they can say more in one message. A simple method is to take out all the vowels: A, E, I, O, and U. As a result, THIS or THESE become THS, and TEXT itself changes into TXT.
The next step is removing an un-needed character from a word like Apostrophes and Dashes. Hence E-Mail does not need a dash and DON'T becomes DNT. Then comes the replacing of words with symbols. For example, FOR is replaced by 4, and hence you '4give' this! Some even write this as '4giv'. And, after removing the vowel 'E' from LOVE it is written as LUV and not LOV to make it sound right.
